Brigadier-General Abdo Khedr al-Telawi

On April 17, 2011 - Syria's independence day - in Homs, a Syrian brigadier-General, Alawite as it so happens, was killed off-duty, dragged from his car alongside his two sons and a nephew - all teenagers. All four were executed with malice and mutilated, just one month after the first peaceful protests. Both sides have blamed each other, if not with equal credibility, for this event no one wanted to take credit for.
