From A Closer Look On Syria
Jump to: navigation, search

Homs is Syria's third-largest city, with a pre-war population of about 650,000, in the country's fertile southwest, north of Damascus and south of Hama. It has seen intense fighting during the war, with certain districts frequently coming under rebel control. The city and its surrounding countryside (Reef Homs) have witnessed some of the most horrific massacres of the war.
