I don't think people in the Soviet block were told en mass about this 'massacre', whether real or fake. Outside of Romania it was presented as mass revolt for reasons unexplained. People were not happy to begin with, due to in part real, in part propaganda-implanted everyday hardships, compared to Western lives from glamorous movies; and as they were regularly reminded about the lack of Western freedoms by Western propaganda radio channels. No explanation was really required .... What was going on there was noted, but not much reactive commotion was taking place outside of Romania --Resup (talk) 23:46, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Even now, there is no mentioning of a 'massacre' in the Russian Wikipedia, On December 16, 1989 with the popular uprisings in Timisoara, caused by the decision of the Communist authorities to evict the Pastor Laszlo Tёkesha, the revolution began, which led to the overthrow of Nicolae Ceausescu.
