Summary
Discussion
I may have to rethink this rocket attack on Aden airport. The spray pattern looks to give the opposite trajectory to Bellingcat's. Anyone feel able to confirm? --Diagonal (talk) 07:01, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
- Was not following who said what, and it is a bit tricky. For a cylindrical missile charge, stuff will start flying almost/mostly radially (ie outward, perpendicular to the cylinder axes, mostly) . If it went into ground (at an angle, tail pointing back) it will manifest as "blow back", sharp marks/hard surface damage backward, and also spray ground on top of its submerged end ,that is mostly forward. But it's best to have high resolution of crater , as one of those two things might look as the other one. There should be some graphics around , from some manuals, giving more wisdom and practical experience of figuring direction, from people doing this for living . Do not have ready links for that,--Resup (talk) 18:07, 12 November 2023 (UTC)
