Photos and Videos

Shown there: a photo of dozens of bodies in civilian clothes, laid out at an apparent mosque, at night. They bled here but didn't die here. They're on blankets, transported. The photo was later re-branded as a scene from the Daraya massacre. It could well be from some other place and time altogether. Abandoned and damaged buildings and debris-strewn streets are common scenes, all caused by government shelling, supposedly. Rebels and activists are shown recovering bodies from basements, including two shown partially burnt – man pulled from a truck and killed – a violated hospital, patient apparently killed and removed, bodies in hiomes, executed in corners, bodies piled on rebel trucks, buried in a rebel trench mass grave just like in Houla or Daraya .

A video of July 2 shows executed people on the street, being covered and/or removed, several days dead, darkening with decay - it's dated July 2. One is a man pulled from his truck and shot on the ground, his feet still up in the truck. He was hauling a lot of large colorful pillows. His head was possibly burnt, as was perhaps some of the other dead. Another short video is a little clearer on the trucker.

Claiborne was sent a photo from the Houla massacre as well, presented as from Douma. It's an unusual view, but compare to: a more common one and note the center stripe of tan is covered, but barely visible in spots between bodies. Check the area by the door and the red carpet. Same carpet design, bodies there in pink and multi-color underneath the white.

Ugarit News, July 3:

A Mother and child found massacred and bloated in Douma

Fifteen victims were reported in Douma and Misraba, including a six years old child and two women. The town of Misraba witnessed today a new massacre as Al-Assad forces slaughtered and killed in summary execution ten civilians, three of them belong to the same family. Activists in Douma continued to recover the massacres’ victims who were killed in basements or buried under the rubble. Security forces launched warrantless detention raid, mainly in Madyara, in search for activists and detained dozens of peaceful civilians. The regime military continued to bombard Al-Eb district in Douma and the farms in Arrihan. Consequently, hundreds of homes were destroyed or cached on fire and dozens of families left their homes in search of safe refuge in fear of new massacres.

Syrians find mutilated corpses in trash cans By: Amy Silverstein

Local activists in Syria say that they are pulling mutilated corpses out of trash cans in Douma. Local state media, meanwhile, is painting a much rosier picture and downplaying concerns about violence, Reuters reported today.

The report comes after security forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar-al Assad stormed through Douma last week, killing at least 83 people, an NGO told the Agence France-Presse.

“These are pieces of our children we’re pulling out of dumpsters … We found these body parts and we are still looking for more. These are burned human body parts,” a man picking through a garbage bin told Reuters today. “These are male reproductive organs.”

And a video posted online shows corpses littering the street of Douma, Reuters reported last week.
