Mystery columns?

Adam, if you are wondering why there are columns behind #4 building that do not show up on Google Maps, there is nothing to wonder. All building in Syria – and the whole of the Middle East – have columns on their roofs. Usually there is only low stump with rebar sticking out. Sometimes they build whole columns. This is to allow adding another floor at any time. Buildings in the dry climate do not need European style roof structures. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 15:23, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

I didn't even need to read this. Saw 'mystery colums,' looked again as the page loaded, and finally noticed they run along the whole roof pretty nicely, what are the odds, unless they're attached to this roof? Will snip out that useless nonexistent complication. Thanks! --Caustic Logic (talk) 23:47, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Directions?

Using an older, vertical satellite image on Google Earth for reference I get the direction 198.24 degrees for line #2. It cuts right between the hospital building and the trees. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 15:32, 25 November 2012 (UTC)

Just checked what my own line was -just about 201. I might've fudged it to point a little more at the trees, but now we know that's not accurate. I'll take this as more accurate but it's only 3 degrees off, so maybe no update. (BTW I can't hardly fathom getting to tenths or hundredths of a degree -I do it visual with a compass JPEG, and about 0.5 degrees is the most precise I get or have ever needed to, or felt video could get me close to with its wiggling pixels) And, by the way, by still pointing almost to the trees, doesn't that complicate the idea of an explosion in front of the hospital? (or was it on the roof, or inside?) The two lines together would suggest smoke from inside the building, the back/west half in particular, and the southern half of that half, apparently, about where that maybe vent sticks up. --Caustic Logic (talk) 23:45, 25 November 2012 (UTC)
