Source?

It is unclear where the top key photo showing "rod" is coming from; do not immediately see it following the link, and image search comes back with nothing. The other allegedly rod, on a seat cushion/cover appeared and was discussed before here (8.11.2014). It may come from a fragmentation warhead, including Buk (as illustrated in that post), or elsewhere. The origin of that photo appears uncertain. -- Resup

Here is the original for the rod(?) photo... 'Rods' appears to be quite thin bars, much thinner than rivet heads. Do not see good photos of rods of plausible air--to air missiles, but here is Soviet anti-aircraft artillery shell with rod elements (evanesce_girl; Cassad) . Rod length roughly matches the one seen on MH17 photos. Thickness here appears greater than on MH17 'rods' photos. -- Resup

How rod damage will look like?

Sidewinder rod damage (tungsten rods) It is thought that R 60 damage will look similar, as R -60 is similar in design; but it is believed to have straight rods, not L-shape. --Resup (talk) 23:23, 8 March 2015 (UTC)
