May 2nd, 2020: "Meditation for the constitution" - keeping safe distance in Magdeburg, Germany
  • Germany: In early April, small protests "for the constitution" began to take place on Saturdays on the Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin. First met with harsh police reactions, they gained size and acceptance over the following weeks. By May 2nd, peaceful protests, often small groups of people sitting down and meditating in "safe distance", but also some mass gatherings allowed by courts in Bayern and Baden-Württemberg, took place all over Germany (3min video compilation). A political party called "Widerstand 2020" (Resistance 2020) with the main goal to restore constitutional rights gathered 100,000 members in less than two weeks.
  • November 18, 2020. Berlin protest. Protesters used large inflatable ducks against the police. More than 250 people were detained. Some ducks were photographed.
