Yemeni targetting
Lycavitos continued its journey after minor damage, Centcom reported.
...firing ballistic missiles at moving maritime targets are measures that are unprecedented during the eight-year war in Yemen and are not compatible with the field realities of Yemen!

After UK/UK airstrikes commenced Jan 11

  • @bears_with - Houthi target intelligence is spot on again: hit bulker MV STAR NASIA, owned by Greek Maryville/Excel Shipping. Houthi release says target American, CENTCOM says Greek. Vessel is carrying “steel products”, that’s US military cargo, from Norfolk Va. SEALIFT COMMAND to India.
This was the third UK vessel that Yemen has struck in the last four days. The Yemeni army announced on 17 February an attack on the British oil vessel, the POLLUX, in the Red Sea. This came two days after an attack on the UK ship LYCAVITOS.
"Our naval forces have attacked the British ship, Rubymar, in the Gulf of Aden with a number of missiles. The ship suffered catastrophic damage and came to a complete halt," he said, adding the ship is now at risk of sinking in the Gulf of Aden.

BP's decision to temporarily pause all transit through the Red Sea, and oil tanker group Frontline (FRO.OL) saying its vessels would avoid passage through the waterway, showed the crisis was broadening to include energy shipments. Crude oil prices rose on those concerns on Monday.

'International Community' Responds

Speaking to MPs, Rishi Sunak said the Houthi attacks were “further evidence that the international picture is both complex and more challenging,” adding: “Previously, we may have taken many of these things for granted.”

  • 13 Jan. Another strike on a Houthi's radar site. U.S. Central Command reported that the USS Carney, a destroyer, conducted the strike at 3:45 a.m. local time Saturday on a Houthi radar site using Tomahawk missiles. No further details were provided, although Associated Press journalists in Sanaa, Yemen's capital, heard one loud explosion... This was apparently a Radar site for Sana'a Intl Airport. Facilities at the airport had been hit by the Saudis in December 2021. Media reports : Houthis naval base in Hodeida was hit from the air.

Analysis

The Houthi announced their blockade for Israel related ships in the Red Sea on December 9 2023. The U.S. announced, on December 21, a coalition to protect Israeli related shipping in the Red Sea. Only after that had happened did the traffic through the Suez channel decrease.MoA
@bears_with - The concealed owner of the Marlin Luanda oil tanker is JP Morgan’s Global Transport Income Fund operating through UK front, Oceonix Services Ltd. The Houthis are reading the small print for “parent & control party” at UK Companies House & US Securities & Exchange Commission.
