Thanks for ... whatever you just did, signing up here. Deleting some spammers there, and offering assistance. I'm not sure even what might be helpful, but CE might. If you come across anything interesting about Syria, feel free to contribute that. Cheers! - Adam. --Caustic Logic (talk) 11:36, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

I'm ShoutWiki staff so just doing my job and clearing up the spammers and making it so they can't bother any wikis here ever again. ;) ☆The Solar DragonShoutWiki Staff 11:38, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
There's plenty more where they came from. We see Jack Phoenix kicking ass on some, but we take of most ourselves. And nothing much seems to stop their pointless efforts. But thanks for your mighty blows. And that is some slick formatting up-front here. I'm slightly jealous/curious, but no time to learn or pester to co-opt or anything. But agian, CE or Petri might pop in with questions or whatnot. Thanks again for, I guess, this little island of your epicness here. Adios! --Caustic Logic (talk) 11:52, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi Solar Dragon, nice to see you. And timely, because I indeed have a question. I wanted to create a fresh database dump via Special:Statistics this weekend but it didn't finish the job. Tried yesterday again and just now. It does nothing for a time while calculating in the background (which is normal), but then breaks down to an empty white page without finishing to create the dump. Like if a time limit was reached. I stopped the seconds before it happens now, apparently 30 secs. The dump should be approx. 27 MB in size as the latest is 25. What can we do about that? --CE (talk) 12:28, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
I'm just community support and I have no idea how the database dump system works. I've passed this along to our technical staff so hopefully we'll sort it out soon. ☆The Solar DragonShoutWiki Staff 12:30, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
Thank you very much! --CE (talk) 12:36, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
So, it seems there may be a problem with our dumps on demand feature with larger wikis. Is the dump urgently needed? If so, we could manually do it. If not, we are looking into rewriting the dumps on demand code to make it work for larger wikis. ☆The Solar DragonShoutWiki Staff 12:39, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for the info. Well, we are a bit paranoid about the backups as this wiki was originally created over at wikinet, and they disappeared one day for several weeks and are apparently still struggling. And it took us some effort harvesting the google cache to (almost) complete the backup we had and rebuild the wiki here. They had no database dump over there so I had to backup all the pages manually which was a real annoyance. Your service has been very stable so maybe it's not that urgent ... but I discipline myself to always create a new dump every week. So if it's no big effort, please create one, and good luck on fixing the thing. :o) --CE (talk) 13:03, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
May I ask if there is any progress fixing the problem? Our latest dump is now one month old and it would be appreciated if you could create one manually if the solution isn't around the corner. Thanks for your efforts. --CE (talk) 22:34, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
