Bzztt! Not MH17 - it's the AN26 shot down a few days prior.

I have been wondering why Russians were saying the right engine was hit. Maybe it was because of this video. I too originally discounted this video as being of an An-26 and two days old. I never managed to find the original upload or anything published before July 17th, so the issue may need closer inspection. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 04:49, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

That is a better copy of the same video, three days or so too early. Huh! I think this means we have zero footage of MH17 falling, and so less to go on. Strangely similar though - it does seem the front came off of both craft, and they seem to be about the same size and shape. I don't feel too dumb for getting this one wrong. :) --Caustic Logic (talk) 05:15, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
What a briefly depressing turn. I was starting to make arguments based on that evidence. I don't run a nation or anything, but still, I got standards... Next I supposed we'll learn this video of the crash is also misattributed, and another batch of working theories is ruined... :) --Caustic Logic (talk) 09:22, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

For what this image is worth: For the record, I had to cheat a bit to clarify it like this, selecting and amplifying darker and lighter areas. The right wingtip is unclear if there or not but otherwise the video (if no single still frame) is clear this is the plane seen from the underside, nose-diving, right wing/engine on fire and maybe part of the wing gone, front part seemingly missing but otherwise intact. It's seen diving like this for about 1:00 straight with two explosive events (0:02 and 0:13), ending in the impact. --Caustic Logic (talk) 08:48, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
