  • "Assasins of Zakharchenko became known", Borodai interview, Rambler News, June 26, 2020
Borodai claims that assassination was "the work of SBU" , "organized" (executed) by a deep undercover cell consisting of elderly ex-Soviet KGB agents/ Borodai also conveys as a "hint" that Soviet-days archives with agents names are held in Kiev, telling that he is well-informed on actual circumstances. He says that those arrested and charged with assassinating Zakharchenko are elderly men. Interview is given to Malofeev's Tsargrad. Accuracy of claims is not certain, on one hand Borodai is in a position to be well-informed, on the other, he is said to be involved in some sort of PR, at least in the past.

He was a local, and one of those who started the movement advocating self determination for Donbass, with strong ties to Russia. He was not a perfect man, and was criticized for his shortcomings. But he was not a coward, he did not stand behind the backs, and he did what he could. He had charisma, despite not being perfect. After his assassination, probably his shortcomings will be of less relevance, and he will be seen as an important statesman and a historic figure.

It was always feared that Ukraine (as it is now) will attack when Russia is in the weakest/most vulnerable position; this seems to be an illustration. Otherwise, there will be no military or political consequences of this assassination. --Resup (talk) 09:14, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
